Riber castle, built as a folly by local businessman John Smedley in 1862, he died before it’s completion, although his wife lived in it until her death.It has been a boys school, an MOD storage depot, and was a wildlife park until it was recently sold for develpment.

Just a few images I’ve found that I think are inspiring. I’ve always wanted to write a book set in some vaguely historical time—involving castles, old wooden doorways and intricate stone work. I suppose that’s a reflection of having grown up in the “Harry Potter Era.” Hopefully someday I’ll be able to find my own voice and put words to the images that I have floating around in my head.
